Meet Marie-Victoire

Compassionate. Considerate. Joyful.

Marie has beautiful memories of her father. After he passed away, Marie became a restavek, or child slave, in one of her relative’s home. Her life was filled with abuse and harsh words.
“I didn’t know what was going to happen to me,” she said when asked about her life as a restavek. “Do something to help the restavek kids…show them much love,” she implores.

Today, Marie is 17 years old and lives in an orphanage in Haiti where she loves to sing and help care for the younger children. Marie has a servant heart. She desires to become a nurse one day and serve the poor. When Bridgewater visited her orphanage, we helped deliver supplies to other orphanages nearby who are not as fortunate. She translated for us, explaining in Creole how often to take the vitamins we had brought. Below is a photo of her with a little boy showing off the craft she helped him make. Marie is a beautiful young lady, both inside and out. She has such potential to change the lives of children in her country.
