Meet Mackson

Artistic. Talented. Humble.

Max’s father was killed when he was 3 years old. His mother is visually impaired and could not care for him. Today, Max is 16 years old and lives in a loving orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He is an intelligent, artistic young man. He enjoys cooking and creating beautifully decorated bowls.

Max is also very athletic. While visiting the orphanage, Bridgewater’s President, Bob Caldwell, Jr, showed him a few wrestling tips.

Max creates beautiful works of art by burning detailed images into wood. One of the Bridgewater dealers who went on the trip is now selling his decorative bowls in her shop.

We were all impressed by the how talented Max is but also how humble he is. He seems to understand that his gifts are meant for helping others. Max hopes to go to vocational school and one day open his own restaurant. His goal is to provide financial support for Haitian orphanages.

Bridgewater Candle Company is so blessed to have the opportunity to partner with Rice Bowls through our Light a Candle • Feed a Child program. Rice Bowls provides food for Max and many other orphaned children like him. Since orphanages supported by Rice Bowls do not have to worry about their food budget, they are able to provide more for the children such as education. For every jar candle sold, Bridgewater makes a donation to Rice Bowls to feed a child for a day.
